MT001(IN1) - ONLINE ORIENTATION

Message from the Instructor

Dear Student:

This announcement will provide you with the information to help you get going in the online class MT001(IN1).

·         There is no in-person orientation for this course.

·         This course's delivery system is a combination of ANGEL and EDUSPACE.  ANGEL and EDUSPACE are both course management systems that are used to provide distance education. Your online required homework and assignments are delivered and submitted using the EDUSPACE program. I'll use ANGEL for course management, announcements, and internal email. Please read the syllabus for more information on EDUSPACE.

·         Online courses offer the same material as a lecture based class. There is no difference in WHAT you are expected to learn. It is the WAY you learn that is different. With online study, you study independently following a schedule. Certain computer skills and a degree of determination (no procrastination) are necessary to be successful.

What You Should Be Doing in the First Week (9/2 – 9/7):

Log into your account in ANGEL by going to http://ANGEL.ecc.edu. You'll need to log in with your ECC username and password; for information on "How to Login", click here.

Once you have logged into your account in ANGEL, your weekly required and/or graded activities can be found by clicking the "Seminars" button on the top of ANGEL's screen. Please visit the "Seminars" area and then click on Seminar One. There you will see the directions to the required assignments for seminar one. Please take note of the due dates, and begin working.

Note:  The "Seminars" area will include six seminar folders. Each folder contains all the activities students need for that seminar. Seminars 2 - 6 are unavailable at the present time. Each will become available on its availability date.

Begin studying Chapter 1 and 2 of the textbook. Finish all required assignments of Seminar One by the end of Seminar One, Sunday 9/14/2008.
